In spite of the attack on DEI in our country, a Representative in North Carolina has proposed a bill to ban the use of Native peoples for sports mascots. STORY HERE

We're wondering if the attack on American families from the Trump administration has actually made citizens more sensitive to the issues of marginalized people?

Rep. Jarrod Lowery, the only Native American legislator in the NC General Assembly, has introduced legislation, HB 655, which would ban offensive and racist American Indian mascots in public schools across North Carolina.

We thank Laura Boyce, who is on our mailing list, for writing this article and her ongoing work to eliminate racist Native sports mascots. We are also hopeful that this is a catalyst for each state to join this nationwide movement.

IF YOU ARE A NORTH CAROLINIAN, PLEASE CONTACT YOUR REPRESENTATIVE TO SUPPORT HB 655.
